Prashamani Hospital was established in 2007 by Dr. Udayashankara H.G., after nearly a decade of dedicated service in the government healthcare sector. During his tenure, he witnessed the challenges faced by rural communities due to the lack of basic medical facilities and timely healthcare access.

Located in the scenic yet underserved Malnad region of the Western Ghats, Koppa and its surrounding areas—including N.R. Pura and Sringeri—serve a population of over 1.5 lakh people. For years, patients had to travel long distances to cities like Shivamogga and Manipal for emergency and specialized care, often resulting in critical delays.

Inspired by the visionary PURA (Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas) concept proposed by former President of India, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, Dr. Udayashankara founded Prashamani Hospital with a mission to bring urban-quality healthcare to rural communities.

Since its inception, the hospital has been committed to delivering affordable, accessible, and quality healthcare services to the people of the Malnad region. It caters to the healthcare needs of Chikkamagaluru district, especially in Koppa, Sringeri, and N.R. Pura taluks.
